Beginnings Are The Hardest

!±8± Beginnings Are The Hardest

Many people seem to think that the on-going effort to excel or promote a business requires the greatest amount of energy and work. Or, that the adventure of adaptation to change is the hardest of all tasks. These conclusions, however, couldn't be further form the truth.

The real energy, the real struggle, the real work comes at the beginning - if not, in fact, before the beginning. The hardest of all, the real gut wrenching, choke'em up emotions are the ones that come before that first step is taken to do or change, take that dreaded action.

Why is action so difficult? Why is it that these emotions can choke you into submission, prevent you from taking necessary or needed action? Fear - that's what. Fear - the anticipated reaction that will stem from the action contemplated. But, there's something ironic here. In fact, this is one place where the reverse negative rules supreme.

The truth is that what you need to do to overcome fear is actually what you fear the most - that is the action. In short, plain and simple Action Overcomes Fear. A perfect example is taken from public speaking. Public speaking is one of the dreaded fears that seems to make even the hardiest person shake in their boots. But, the only way to overcome your fear of public speaking is to actually take action by engaging in public speaking.

What about that dreaded meeting with the boss where you ask for a raise based on your contribution over and above? What about that marriage proposal - well - why wait - take action and the worst thing that can happen is to hear "no".

Action may not be easy but it is the only way new beginnings can start; taking action is the only way you can overcome any kind of fear is to take action to address that fear through action. Yes, beginnings are hard, but action taken equals fear overcome.
